ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kat Krivska is a 25-year-old artist from North Carolina who specializes in soulful abstract designs, and describes her art as a visual representation and explanation of her mind and soul. Her style of art is intuitive and intentionally absent of planning. She places herself in front of the canvas, where the layers of designs and colors flow freely until the piece feels complete. Kat's creative process is deeply therapeutic and meditative, allowing for free expression, deconstruction of perfectionistic tendencies, and connection to self and spirit. This practice serves as a reminder that beauty and chaos can coexist, both in life and within herself. 

 

Kat currently resides in Kealakekua, Big Island, Hawai'i, where she is actively pursuing her art and personal development. As the free-spirited wanderer that she is, Kat previously landed on a whim in both Encinitas, California and Portland, Oregon over the past several years, calling each place home for a season of time. Although she is currently grounding it to her present community, she longs to spend many more chapters of life traveling the world, seeking wisdom and knowledge through the stories, experiences, and philosophies of other humans and cultures. The integration of art, nature, and human well-being is of utmost importance to her, and while the journey requires deep patience, her mission is to accomplish this as much as possible in her time on earth. To truly know her is to see her resilient determination and experience the hopeful, passionate visionary spirit radiating from within, that is so (dis)gracefully accompanied by the suffocating self-doubt she is continuously breaking down through her arduous yet rewarding journey of self-love and compassion.

In Kat's personal reflection on how she aspires to show up the world as an artist, she decided to identify with the feminine form of her Czech (yet "Americanized") surname 'Krivsky', inherited from her great-grandfather who immigrated to the U.S. in his lifetime. Her use of 'Krivska' is an active way to reclaim the culture within her own lineage, while testifying to her own personal connection to the powerful, creative feminine force that has shaped her story so deeply.
